Such service for a bank your size is disgraceful.Update: I left disappointed and disgusted. There is no dignity in visiting Habib Bank Istanbul at its current branch that feels more like an area for beggars waiting for alms. After 20 mins a person came asking what and why people were there. Is this a bank or a branch of the passport office?You’re trying to expand your footprint but with such an attitude I don’t see the bank making many customers.

Bobji Mungamuru: Branch manager Burak Camgoz and his staff at HSBC Taksim are fantastic! Highly recommended.Opening a bank account in Turkey as a foreigner is a total nightmare. Burak helped me out when almost no other bank would. Yunus Susler on his team is great too. Both of them speak perfect English. They also went out of their way to help me with a few difficult transactions.Most banks (notably ziraat) ask for a huge US$ cash deposit just to open an account, and then lock up your money for months. Others charge steep account opening fees. Burak and his team at HSBC Taksim don’t do any of that, although documentation requirements are quite strict (proof of employment, etc). Even other HSBC branches in Istanbul weren’t as helpful as Taksim, maybe due to lack of English-speaking staff.If you’re a foreigner trying to open a bank account in Turkey, save yourself time and hassle, and visit HSBC Taksim and ask for Burak or Yunus.

I have been to many HSBC branches and I have never received such great customer service like the one from Role. Anytime I come to visit Turkey, I will visit this branch and speak to Role about my banking. He is very knowledgeable and patient. He provides great advise and makes sure that his customers leave after they have all their questions answered. I have also contacted HSBC headquarters to let them know about their hardworking employee Role.
